11 ways to improve your mental wellbeing this month

1. Reduce stress. When life gets stressful, find an outlet. This could involve exercise, trying a new recipe, or unplugging from social media. 

2. Learn something new. Try a new recipe, read a good book, buy a plant and learn to how to take care of it. 

3. Spend time in nature. A simple walk in nature can do wonders. Sit by the beach or walk around the block. Preferably in a place with trees and nice flowers. 

4. Connect with others. This can be as simple as saying hello to a stranger in the elevator, or as big as attending a local networking event. 

5. Look after your physical health. Prioritize daily movement, no matter how big or small. 

6. Improve your sleep. Aim for 8 hours of sleep. Going to bed at the same time every night is recommended. Same goes for waking up. 

7. Practice mindfulness. This means practice being in the present moment. Breathing exercises and meditation can be useful tools here. 

8. Talk to someone. Call your therapist, phone a friend, FaceTime your grandma. Give someone a compliment in the grocery store line. You never know what a small connection with someone could do. 

9. Create a strong inner voice. You are your own best friend. Talk to yourself like you are. Affirmations work well here. 

10. Make leisure a priority. Have a rot day. Get your favorite snacks, watch movies, and snuggle under a blanket.

11. Take an internet break. Social media can be so overwhelming, especially for those of us who use it daily. Delete the app for a day, you'll live!
